Inter-Regional Trade Survey (PAW) 2021

May 5, 2021 | BPS Activities

The trade sector is one of the activities that has a strategic role in development. In addition to providing meaningful contributions in creating business fields, expanding employment opportunities and increasing income, the trade sector can also accelerate economic growth and equity. Trade can increase the consumption capacity of a region, increase regional output, and provide access to resources and potential markets for various commodities. The role of trade in a region is very important, so it is necessary to know the profile of the trade business both at the national and provincial levels, an overview of domestic trade data, and trade between regions.

In 2021, BPS will carry out a Trade Survey which is integrated with the Inter-Regional Trade Survey that has been carried out by BPS since 2017. Therefore, apart from the profit of the trade sector, values and maps of trade between regions will also be obtained. Trade between regions is the trade and distribution of goods from one province to another which is different within the same country. The availability and need for different commodities in each province as well as the quite high fluctuations and disparities in the prices of basic goods between regions are the driving factors for trade between regions.

With the implementation of the 2021 Trade Survey, it is hoped that it will produce an overview of the profile of the economic activities of businesses / companies in the trade sector, both at the provincial and national levels and according to the Indonesian Standard Business Field Classification (KBLI) as well as an overview of trade maps between provinces in Indonesia, which can be used as a reference for the construction of a more efficient trade distribution system.
