Abstract

In October 2022, a combination of six cities in Central Java experienced deflation of 0.12 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 112.64. Of the six CPI cities in Central Java, three cities experienced deflation and three cities experienced inflation.

The main cause of deflation in October 2022 was the decline in the prices of red chilies, chicken eggs, chicken meat, cayenne pepper, and air transportation. The main restraints of deflation were the increase in the prices of rice, recreation, gasoline, online 2-wheeled vehicle fares, and household fuel.

The calendar year inflation rate in October 2022 was 4.98 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2022 to October 2021) was 6.00 percent.
