Abstract

In July 2021 Surakarta City experienced inflation of 0.23 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 105.85. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. Expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index were: housing, water, electricity and household fuel increased by 0.24 percent, equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance groups rose 0.22 percent, health group rose 0.01 percent, transportation rose 0.30 percent, recreation, sports and culture group fell 0.26 percent, education group rose 1.43 percent, food, beverage/restaurant group rose 0.20 percent and personal care and other services group rose 0, 46 percent. In contrast, the food, beverage and tobacco group fell 0.06 percent, the clothing and footwear group fell 0.06 percent and the information, communication and financial services group fell 0.02 percent.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-July) 2021 is 1.19 percent, while the year on year inflation rate (July 2021 to July 2020) is 1.98 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rates were calculated, in July 2021 there were 5 cities experiencing inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Surakarta at 0.23 percent, followed by Purwokerto at 0.09 percent, Tegal at 0.08 percent, Cilacap at 0.06 percent and Semarang at 0.05 percent. On the other hand, Kudus city experienced deflation of 0.10 percent.

Of the 90 national CPI cities, 61 cities experienced inflation and 29 cities experienced deflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was Sorong at 1.51 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Sampit at 0.01 percent. On the other hand, the largest deflation occurred in the city of Manokwari at 0.60 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in the city of Maumere and the city of Samarinda at 0.01 percent respectively.
