Abstract
Human development in Central Java in 2020 has progressed
which is marked by the increase in the Human Development Index (HDI) of Central
Java. Although affected by the Covid-19 outbreak, Central Java's HDI in 2020
was still able to grow positively by 0.14 points, from 71.73 points in 2019 to
71.87 points in 2020
Since 2017, the status of human development in Central Java
has reached the "high" category (HDI is above 70), while between
2010-2016 it is still in the "medium" category (60 ≤ HDI <70)
During the period 2019 - 2020, the components forming the
HDI have increased. Newborns in Central Java have a chance to live up to 74.37
years, an increase of 0.14 years compared to those born in 2019. Children aged
7 years have a chance of attending school for 12.70 years, or an increase of
0.02 year. Population aged 25 years and over have taken an average of 7.69
years of education (SMP Class 1) or an increase of 0.16 years. However, per
capita public expenditure adjusted for PPP (Purchasing Power Parity) decreased by
IDR 172 thousand compared to the previous year, to IDR 10,930 million in 2020
