The Central Bureau of Statistics in one of its duties and authorities provides data related to the agricultural sector through various periodic surveys. The last Agricultural Census in 2013 which was carried out in full and comprehensively, apart from photographing agricultural conditions in that year was also used to construct a sampling frame of all agricultural households, including the plantation sub-sector. Changes in the plantation business are very fast following technological developments, changing seasons, and prices. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out a Plantation Strategic Commodities Survey, one of which is coconut and pepper. The purpose of this survey is to obtain data estimates for the number of coconut business households, the number of trees and coconut and pepper production, and the characteristics of the cultivation and distribution of coconut production by households.
In March and April 2022 BPS conducted the Plantation Strategic Commodities Survey (VKOMSTRAT), for Boyolali Regency the sample affected was coconut. The schedule for updating listings is March 1-11, 2022 and the sample enumeration schedule is March 21-8 April 2022. The survey was preceded by online training on February 24-25 2022 which was attended by 1 field enumerator (PCS) and 1 field supervisor (PMS) from Boyolali Regency. The sample for this survey is as many as 22 agricultural households that cultivate coconuts for the past year in 2 CBs, namely in Ngargosari Village, Ampel District and Kaligentong Village, Kec. Gladagsari.
The implementation of this survey uses the CAPI (Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing) method where the officer uses an Android that has the ICS application installed to update listings and enumerate samples using the application. Through the use of CAPI, it is expected to improve the quality of survey results (accuracy, timeliness, and accessibility) with integrated survey management from data collection, validation, monitoring (tabulation), and household sampling, weighting, to online tabulation.
On 23-25 March 2022 BPS Boyolali Regency received a supervision visit for the Coconut-Plantation Strategic Commodities Survey from the Central Java Province BPS supervisory officer who carried out direct checks in the field regarding the implementation of this survey. The purpose of this supervision is of course to control the quality and take an inventory of findings and field problems.
