The development of Indonesian
tourism in recent years has been quite encouraging. This is marked by the entry
of the tourism sector as one of the 5 (five) priority sectors for national
development, as stated in the 2017 Government Work Plan (RKP), namely the food,
energy, maritime, tourism, industrial areas and special economic zones (KEK)
sector. . Within the KEK itself there are also KEK Tourism, such as the KEK
Tanjung Lesung, which shows a serious effort to develop national tourism.
Currently, Indonesia's tourism
development is focused on amenities and accessibility, especially airport
infrastructure, direct flights, land transportation to tourist objects, as well
as cruise and yacth ports. The Indonesian government strives to ensure that
each tourist destination, especially the 10 priority tourist destinations, has
an international airport, is connected to toll roads and railways, and has
international standard port facilities.
So far, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and
Bali have become baromers of national tourism activities, so that they have
become targets of investors to establish hotels, restaurants / restaurants and
other tourism service businesses. However, there are actually many other areas
that are starting to experience rapid tourism growth, such as, North Sumatra
with Lake Toba, Southeast Sulawesi with Wakatobi, West Papua with its Raja
Ampat, and several other potential areas. In addition, currently there are
several activities in the field of tourism services, for example the increasing
number of restaurants / restaurants, tour packages, increased use of hotels
such as seminars, meetings, workshops and other MICE activities.
However, currently the data
regarding the tourism service business is still considered minimal. The
available data on tourism service providers is still considered up to date, so
it is deemed necessary to carry out data collection / information again
regarding the various characteristics of tourism service providers. Updating
data is carried out by taking administrative data available from various
agencies / institutions such as the Tourism Office, BKPMD, and others. In order
to obtain more effective results, administrative data from the various agencies
/ institutions needs to be updated or checked in the fields related to the
existence of the said tourism service providers.
Updating or updating the Tourism
Service Business Directory aims to maintain the availability of information on
the existence of tourism service provider businesses that are still active
which is useful as a sample frame for various surveys as well as for other
purposes related to Tourism Statistics.
