Abstract

In April 2022 Surakarta City experienced an inflation of 1.47 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 110.70. This inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index. The expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the price index were: the food, beverage and tobacco group rose 2.33 percent, the clothing and footwear group rose 0.59 percent, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group rose 0.33 percent, the group household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance rose 1.63 percent, the health group rose 0.83 percent, the transportation group rose 3.37 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group rose 1.54 percent, the education group rose 0.03 percent , the food, beverage/restaurant provision group rose 1.59 percent and the personal care and other services group rose 1.29 percent. In contrast, the information, communication and financial services group fell 0.01 percent.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-April) 2022 is 3.16 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (April 2022 to April 2021) is 4.65 percent.

Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation rate was calculated, in April 2022 all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Cilacap City at 1.68 percent, followed by Purwokerto at 1.65 percent, Surakarta City at 1.47 percent, Kudus city at 1.27 percent, Tegal City at 0.90 percent and Semarang at 0. 86 percent.

Out of 90 national CPI cities, all cities experienced inflation. The city that experienced the highest inflation was Tanjung Pandan at 2.58 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Gunungsitoli City at 0.22 percent.
