Abstract

In November 2019 the city of Surakarta experienced inflation of 0.23 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 132.46. This inflation is due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index figures. Expenditures group experienced an increase in price index namely: the foodstuffs group rose 0.69 percent, the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group rose 0.19 percent, the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group rose 0.03 percent, the clothing group rose 0.49 percent, the education, recreation and sports group rose 0.07 percent and the transportation, communication and financial services group rose 0.13 percent. In contrast, the health group fell 0.06 percent.
KalenderThe calendar year inflation rate (January - November) 2019 was 2.44 percent, while the year on year inflation rate (November 2019 against November 2018) was 3.03 percent.
Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation figures were calculated, in November 2019 all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Kudus by 0.24 percent, followed by Surakarta by 0.23 percent, Semarang and Tegal by 0.20 percent, Cilacap by 0.16 percent and Purwokerto by 0.15 percent.
Of 82 national CPI cities, 57 cities experienced inflation and 25 cities experienced deflation. The city with the highest inflation was Manado at 3.30 percent and the lowest inflation was in Malang at 0.01 percent. On the contrary, the biggest deflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan, namely 1.06 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in Batam and Denpasar, each at 0.01 percent.
