In line with the development of the industrial revolution 4.0, retail
traders in Indonesia have been quite turbulent, marked by the closure of a
number of retail outlets due to the increasingly advanced electronic commerce
through the internet media. Based on the Bank Indonesia Survey, the projected
retail sales in the third quarter of 2019 will slow down compared to the
previous quarter. Retail sales in the third quarter of 2019 grew 1.8% on an
annual basis, lower than 4.2% in the second quarter of 2019.1 Therefore, it is
necessary to collect data on retail traders to obtain the latest data on retail
traders in Indonesia.
In 2020 the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) held a company / business
update in 2020 by registering all Retail Traders (Category G KBLI 47) included
in the medium and large scale businesses. The updating of the company / trade
business in 2020 was carried out in all provinces to portray the shift in
retail traders based on the results of SE2016. The results of this activity are
expected to be used as a sample framework in research related to trade.
Updating the company / trade business in 2020 in 34 provinces has a goal, which
is to compile a complete and up-to-date and complete list of Non-Car and
Motorcycle Retail Business Merchants and obtain the number of retail traders in
Indonesia
