Evaluation of Post-Eid Al-Fitr Achievement and Control by Boyolali Regency TPID

On Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Wijaya Kusuma Room, Regional
Secretariat Office of Boyolali Regency, the Regional Inflation Control Team
(TPID) of Boyolali Regency held a meeting evaluating the achievement of
inflation in the Ramadhan Month and controlling post-Eid al-Fitr 1440H
inflation. The coordination meeting also discussed policies in the context of
efforts to control prices in strategic food commodities. The meeting was
attended by the relevant OPD and Representative of GAPOKTAN Chili Farmers.

Opened by the Economic Development Assistant at the Regional
Secretariat of Boyolali, Widodo, SE, Msi, the coordination meeting began at
09.00 until 12.00 WIB. In the evaluation meeting, three speakers from the Bank
Indonesia Solo Representative Office, Boyolali Regency Central Bureau of
Statistics and the Department of Agriculture of Boyolali District were
presented. The presentation with the theme "Economic Development and
Inflation in Boyolali Regency" was delivered by Bambang Priyono, as a
representative from Bank Indonesia. While the Head of BPS Boyolali Regency,
Drs. Sugita, MM, explained the inflation of Boyolali Regency after Eid al-Fitr
and any strategic commodities that gave a big contribution, including the high
price of chilli peppers. Representative of Boyolali Regency Office, Supardi
explained the development of chili production in Boyolali Regency.

On that occasion, the chili farmers represented by GAPOKTAN
conveyed the problems that had caused the price of chili to fluctuate extreme.
Some of the problems were partly due to the dry season which caused the water
supply to decrease so that chili production also declined. In addition, it is
suspected that there are practices of stockpiling chili in collectors. The
discussion was opened to look for government strategic policies that could be
taken, which continued to pay attention to the welfare of farmers by still
being able to protect consumers through price control.

Bank Indonesia provides advice on controlling the prices of
strategic commodities with the 4K program, namely supply availability,
affordability, smooth distribution and effective communication. The Agriculture
Service proposes a plan to renew the processing of chili by drying or changing
it to chili bonnets.
