Abstract
In May 2021, Central Java experienced inflation of 0.17
percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.23. All CPI cities in Central
Java experienced inflation. The highest cities were Cilacap and Tegal at 0.25
percent with CPI at 105.00 and 106.66, respectively.
The main cause of inflation in Central Java in May 2021 is
the increase in the price of purebred chicken, cooking oil, gold jewelry,
inter-city transportation, and chartered/rental vehicles. The main driver of
inflation in Central Java is the decline in prices for red chili, cayenne
pepper, broiler eggs, cell phones, and eggplant.
The May 2021 calendar year inflation rate is 0.68 percent
and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2021 to May 2020) is 1.63 percent.
