Abstract

In December 2019 the city of Surakarta experienced inflation of 0.48 percent with the Consumer Price Index of 133.10. This inflation is due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the consumer price index figures. Expenditures group experienced an increase in price index namely: the foodstuffs group rose 1.65 percent, the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group rose 0.27 percent, the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group rose 0.05 percent, the health group rose 0.06 percent, the education, recreation and sports group rose 0.07 percent and the transportation, communication and financial services group rose 0.53 percent. On the contrary the clothing group fell 0.04 percent.
KalenderThe calendar year inflation rate (January - December) 2019 is 2.94 percent.
Of the 6 cities in Central Java Province whose inflation figures were calculated, in December 2019 all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Purwokerto at 0.51 percent, followed by Cilacap city 0.50 percent, Surakarta City 0.48 percent, Semarang city 0.46 percent, Tegal City 0.37 percent and Kudus city 0.24 percent.
Of 82 national CPI cities, 72 cities experienced inflation and 10 cities experienced deflation. The city experiencing the highest inflation was Batam by 1.28 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Watampone by 0.01 percent. On the contrary, the biggest deflation occurred in Manado, which was 1.88 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in Bukittinggi and Singkawang, each by 0.01 percent.
