Abstract

The number of poor people (people below the poverty line) in Central Java Province in March 2011 was 5.107 million people (15.76 percent), a decrease of 262,000 people compared to the poor population in March 2010 which was 5.369 million people (16.56 percent). The number of poor people in March 2011 in urban areas was 2.093 million people (14.12 percent of the total urban population) while in rural areas it was 3,015 people (17.14 percent).
